My Aunt Julie always helps to motivate me in making updates. I know I have been reallllly bad about it as of late. My summer goal is to update a couple of times a month. To recap on some big events, I recently traveled to Denver in May to visit this little guy...

Christina and I flew out to visit the Sherer's in the mile high city. It was an awesome little vacay. I am so incredibly happy for the life they have built out there. Val gets to be a stay at home mom, which I know first hand has so many rewards. Cali has adapted nicely, made new friends, and appears to enjoy her new town. Mike is doing well with work and loving the new addition to their family. And Lucas doesn't say much, but he seemed really content with life. Great visit!

Cara just recently had her first ballet recital. It was such a proud momma moment for me. Of course I felt she was the best in her row. I remember growing up, my Mom would always say "you were the best in your row". Mind you, it was choral concerts of unison voices and I most likely couldn't even be heard nor was I probably even in key. BUT, being a mom myself now, I understand what my mom meant. Cara was the best to ME!

Summer is rolling into GA. We probably started having the summer weather in late April. Our pool has opened which has provided so much use to my little water babies. And as an added bonus, they sleep so well afterwards. We've already had a lake day this season, which was a blast. Sam has finally mustered up the courage to get on the jet ski (without crying) and she loved it. I took her for some spins, just me and her, and she had a smile the whole time. I look forward to a summer filled with making new memories.

This final picture I snapped, I just absolutely love. It reminds me of how incredibly blessed I am! I feel like I can see God shining through here and I am so grateful for all of His blessings!

the lost photos

Most of the time, when I stumble upon a good kodak moment, I am armed only with my phone and the pretty pathetic camera that comes with it. But I take the shots anyways so that I can quickly message them out and let people get a glimpse into my life with two toddlers. Since I'm a terrible blog updater I thought I'd go through my last few months of mobile pictures and fill in some of the blanks of how we spend our time.

First few photos are a throwback to Christmas '11. At this point I had discovered Pinterest (one of the best things to ever happen to me) and wanted to share two things I made.





The next thing I want to share is something that made me laugh. Both of my two children have reached a stage of independence. Cara sooner than Sam, but now they are both full blown children that want to be adults. They talk on pretend cell phones, they pretend cooking in a kitchen, they even have a BMW convertible they take for a spin in the neighborhood. Sam has just started to really show interest in wanting to dress herself. Cara's been doing this for a while and most the time it results in crazy mismatched colors and some kind of twirling skirt. Upon reviewing my mobile pictures I found two separate occasions where I took a picture of Sam and Cara after they had picked out their outfit for the day. Of course, I snapped these because they induced a nice little chuckle but who would have known how similar two siblings could be. Check it out!

I wanna touch on the bowling day. I snapped a picture of our scores, and since you can't really make out the names I'll address the scores in order for you:



Chris would be the first bowler with the 91, I was below him with the 105, Cara the 74 and Sam the 85. What I'd like to remember was a) i beat Chris and b) Sam was only points from beating Chris.

potty training round two

For memory's sake I wanted to add a quick post that Sam has officially begun potty training. In the last week, she has been successfully going number two in the big girl potty! Still a lot of practice and encouragement to be had, but I like the track we're on. As much as I enjoy finding a great deal on diapers, I will be happy to clear them from the grocery list.

warmest winter ever

I just want to touch on the weather briefly..and how uncharacteristically warm it has been this winter. I won't complain because it has been lovely outside and easier on my gas bill, BUT I can't help but get uneasy about the temp's we're gonna see this summer :/

Thankfully though, we've been able to have a lot of continued park time through the cold months. I love the center area of our neighborhood because it has a great little playground set up and a ring that loops around it which makes a good walking track. I hope in the future, when we've moved and the girls are older, I can look back and remember our first house and how we spent our days!

I'm a horrible blog updater. The worst.

The new year has been good to us. No big changes, which is perfectly fine with me. We recently had Val and Cali in town. Mom and I planned a little baby shower that was of great success. Val received much needed baby items and was able to get some missed time with friends and family. That weekend was also Matty boy's baptism. It was such an awesome day! I really enjoyed the Deacon who performed the baptism and as Godmother, I felt so blessed to be apart of the day.

Sam and Cara recently attended a date night with their Dad. I recall blogging about it last year when Chris took Cara, and all the excitement I felt for the two of them to share that special time together. This year was more of the same excitement. It was so fun to dress them up in pink's and red's and let them wear their princess crowns. Chris wore some of his suit and the three of them looked awesome together! Again, I would have loved to be a fly on the wall, but Chris said they had a perfect time. The girls were behaved and oddly quiet as they inhaled chicken nuggets and ice cream. I am always reminded of my love for Chik Fil A and all that they do to promote family togetherness in our community. Love them!



Up next, we look forward to Spring, Easter, the arrival of Baby Lucas and in two weeks, Princess Day at the GA Aquarium. Can't wait!

a new year...

I haven't really had an updated blog in a while about the girls and where they are in life, so I thought I'd take a minute to write it all down. Oh, how I've loved looking back on the years of my blogs and seeing how my little ones have grown. I made a milestone video for Sam a while back that I watched last night, and it makes me a little sad to think how quickly time flies. A lot of my friends have new babies, and it definetely has brought back the memories of when mine were small. They aren't so small anymore.

Cara is every bit of 4 years old. She's ingenious, imaginative, self-sufficient, curious, complex..the list could go on and on. Her vocabulary has sky rocketed and most of the time I think to myself, where did she learn that? She speaks fast, yet stammered, trying to figure out each thing she wants to describe. You can see her brain working most of the time! She has learned to write her first name and recognizes some written letters and numbers. She has also become quite the song writer, debuting her original "Ariel, Jingle Bells" this past Christmas. She goes to Preschool once a week and does ballet once a week. She absolutely adores ballet, so we plan on sticking with this through the beginning of the year. School is becoming a little more comfortable..although she still isn't exactly sold on the leaving mom part yet. In August she will start Pre K, and I'm so excited for her. I think she is going to love it and have many rewarding experiences in the years to come. We are still heavy on the Disney Princesses, although she has come to love Phineas and Ferb. As much as she may try to enjoy new things, she still has her tutu and tiara on! I can not believe she will turn 5 this year! Such an exciting time.

My little Sam Sam is 2. So crazy to think my baby is 2! Even crazier is that she will turn 3 later this year. I'm not sure we have hit the "terrible two's" so to speak but we do work on communication each day. She's very curious about EVERYTHING. And I literally mean everything. She has to know what every button does, what every book has inside, what every toy sounds like, etc. She pushes the word "no" a lot as well. As she gives a look, she will continue to test me and see how long it takes me before I get up and physically stop her. I remember this well with her sister, so we are working on it. Her vocabulary grows by the day and she cracks me up with her pronunciations. My favorite is how she says "because". "Why are you not listening to Mommy?", "Cauuuu" she'll respond. She might be the sweetest thing in the whole world. She is constantly asking if I'm okay after a cough, comforting her sister when she's sad, or simply rubbing my arm when we're tired. She's my little love bug! Some of her favorite things are Mickey Mouse, Cinderella, balance beams and pudding. All four at once would be the best day ever! She took a ballet class this week and I think in the Spring she will start a dance/gym combo in her own class. I've wanted to wait for her to be big enough to focus and participate and I think we're getting there. She seems to really thrive on her own without sissy around, but definetely gets bored quicker. I see her personality shine through more on our days by ourselves, and it's quite entertaining. She's definetely my quiet one, but when the time is right, she can be a chatter box. Once Cara started getting older, she became Daddy's girl and as I watch Sam grow, I see her really start to show interest in play with Daddy as well. She's always been all about Mommy so I'm glad she's sharing her time more these days, I know Daddy is! We are considering putting Sam in a one day a week pre school come August as well and let her kind of get a taste of being on her own. Come August, I'll see if I'm still willing to part from her for a day lol.

So in a nutshell, those are the Kenny girls as of January 17th 2012. As we all know with kids, they could be different people tomorrow!

Happy 2012 from the Kenny's! We had such a fantastic 2011..not sure I want much to change! Wishes for the new year are good health and happiness.

This year I will have a a 3 year old who gets sweeter everyday, a 5 year old who will start Pre-K, and a wonderful husband who will continue to rock at work!
